Medicare Supplements
About This Service
Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)
Medicare Supplement insurance helps fill the "gaps" in Original Medicare coverage, helping you pay for out-of-pocket costs like deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
Plan G - The Most Comprehensive Coverage
Plan G is the most popular Medicare Supplement plan, covering:
Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs (up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used)
Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment
First 3 pints of blood
Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment
Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance
Part A deductible
Part B excess charges
Foreign travel emergency (up to plan limits)
You only pay the annual Part B deductible ($240 in 2024)
Plan N - Budget-Friendly Option
Plan N offers excellent coverage with slightly lower premiums:
Same coverage as Plan G, except:
Does NOT cover Part B excess charges
Small copayments: Up to $20 for office visits, up to $50 for emergency room visits
Important: Shop Around and Save
According to the Medicare and You book, plans with different companies might charge a higher premium for the exact same coverage. There is no difference in coverage for Plan N or Plan G by different carriers - only the cost differs.
This is why it's crucial to compare rates from multiple carriers to find the best price for identical coverage.
